Has anyone experienced dificulties updating a category. We have been updating category values using LAPI fine, until, we added a new version of category template to the system. After this we found that the LAPI was deleting the old category and not applying the new one. This appears to be related to the version of the category template.

Message from chris meyer via eLinkHi,This is a problem, but there is a work-around.Say you have node A with category B1 (version 1 of category
assigned to it. LAPI will throw an exception if you attempt to assign B2 to A because of a version conflict with B1. Your choices are the following:1) Use the LAPI UpgradeObjectCategory() function to upgrade B1 to B2 on A before assigning a new B2 to it.2) Retrieve B1 directly from A (using the GetObjectAttributesEx() function) instead of creating a new B2. The drawback is that your node will continue to use the old category version.3) Drop B1 from A before assigning B2.Hope this helps, chriseLink Discussion: LAPI Discussion wrote:>Updating Categories>Posted by Support, I.S. on 07/20/2004 02:04 PM>>Has anyone experienced dificulties updating a category.
