Providing Browse Functionality In External System

We currently have an external system which requires people to add links to Livelink documents.Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about creating functionality so that a user can for example click add link to document and then be displayed the Livelink folder structure so that they can browse to their document?

Hi Jason,

I'll give you a global outline of the solution you can create. What you do is mimic the target browse functionality of Livelink.

- In your application you call the Livelink URL for targetbrowse. It looks something like

...?func=ll&objID=12345&objAction=targetBrowse&headerLabel=...&formname=myForm&fieldprefix=PREF&...

Have a look at LLHOME\html\targetbrowsedialog .html for a complete overview of the possibilities.

- There are 2 ways the target browse can return the values to your program.

1. The target browse request handler expects certain fields to be present in your application (the parent widow)

There should be a form with the name specified in the formname parameter. I my case the form is called myForm.

This form should contain the following fields:

PREF_ID

PREF_Path

PREF_PathSaved

PREF_Name

PREF is the value of the fieldprefix parameter

2. You create the following javascript function:

function PREF_DoSelection(nodeid, nodepath)

PREF is the value of the fieldprefix parameter.

in the JavaScript function you do what your application needs.

I don't know if you need to pass the formname parameter in this case if it was only to fool Livelink.
