NEED LAPI VB.NET CODE EXAMPLE FOR ADDING VALUES TO AN ATTRIBUTE WITH MULTIPLE ROWS

We are using LAPI in a VB.net application to load documents and associated metadata to custom attributes. Does anyone have example code to add multiple values to a custom attribute that allows multiple rows (that is not a part of a set). The code would need to do something like add the document, add the first attribute, if a second value exists, add an additional row to the attribute and then add the value to the second row.
