Leading and Trailing Spaces
Ben_Lin_(unocaladmin_-_(deleted))
Hi, I am not sure if it is our instance or it is generic to all LiveReport output. The values within the HTML table cells all seem to have leading and trailing spaces. A lot of times, I copied and pasted the table to Excel. When the values are numbers, I have to apply a forumla to remove the spaces before I can analyze these values using Excel's numeric functions. I wonder if all of you have the same problem or it is a configuration issue.I noticed running web queries from within Excel does not seem to have the same problem but not sure if I want to train users to do the same.If you know the answers or have solutions, please reply or send email to me directly at ben.lin@unocal.com. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Message from Olson, Leonard via eLinkBen,I have noticed the exact same thing when copying and pasting reports into Excel. The only time it is a problemn is when using calculations in Excel. If you are using Excel 2003, web Queries are pretty simple --you log into LL from Excel, navigate to your report and run it. You might try building an Excel shortcut for users who are not comfortable with Web Queries...-----Original Message-----From: eLink Discussion: Livelink LiveReports Discussion [mailto:livereportsdiscussion@elinkkc.opentext.com]Sent: Fri 9/17/2004 2:19 PMTo: eLink RecipientCc: Subject: Leading and Trailing SpacesLeading and Trailing Spaces Posted by UnocalAdmin (Lin, Ben) on 09/17/2004 02:15 PM Hi, I am not sure if it is our instance or it is generic to all LiveReport output. Hi Ben,This is just because the file autoreport_run.html used as a template for the LiveReport results page contains non-breaking spaces ( ) which end up on either side of the report results in each cell as sent to the browser. They are apparently just there for spacing in the page, although of course there are other ways of achieving this.Regards,Kate
