Settings Doesn't return you to the current workspace
Richard_Maxey_(onradmin_-_(deleted))
When I am in settings, you only have two buttons, the UPDATE and the RESET buttons.I think you need some more buttons here. For instance, navigate to the SETTINGS page, and then I modify a setting on this page and click UPDATE, it doesn?t close out the settings window and return me to the previous workspace. I have no way to remember where I was in Hopper before because it doesn?t automatically return me to that previous page.I would like to see the following added as buttons at the bottom of the page:There should be an APPLY button on this page so that you can apply a setting and stay in settings to change something else. There should be a RESET button, which you already have; that?s good. Or perhaps a RETURN TO THE DEFAULT SETTINGS button. There should be a DONE button here, as we see on other Livelink pages, which returns you back to the area you were previously browsing.

Richard,Thank you for the suggestion. We are working towards more standardized buttons, and trying to eliminate "dead ends" like this, so we appreciate that you pointed this out. Are there other places where you've noticed dead ends? Also, we're trying to decide what guidelines to use when displaying Apply and Reset. I think there are definite places where Reset makes sense (like you say, in places where you want to restore the default). But there are other ones where Reset can actually cause more work than it saves. For example, if you have a long form to fill out, hitting Reset accidentally can be painful if you're near the bottom of the form when you do it. So for Settings, we'd display it, but in the latter situation we would not.I think Apply makes sense in Settings also because you may be moving from tab to tab and need to choose that within the tab. But other areas where there's just a small number of fields, having both Apply and Done seems unnecessary and potentially confusing.Anyway, I wanted to describe these two situations in case you had additional thoughts. But, regardless, I agree with your comments regarding Settings.Thank you,Carolyn ChandlerSr. User Experience AnalystOpen Text, Inc.
