How do you create a report to list all documents in a folder structure?

Hello,I'm trying to write a livereport for an user that will start at a top level folder, let's call it "TOP", and read through all the sub folders under "TOP" and produce a report of all the documents/objects in the hierarchy.Thanks in advance for your help.Cheers,Mike

Is there a way to limit the display of the project view to only show folders? The project window shows an option for filtering on folders, documents, etc, but it does not work. Could a command be added to the url string to control by document type?

I tested this in Livelink 9.7.1 and found that even in that version, the outline function has the same problem, i.e. if you specify folders only, it shows folders, documents, and other objects. I have entered this issue in the past as a feature request in our bugs database. If you should wish to enquire on its status anytime yourself, simply contact Customer Support and quote the feature request number given below.Feature Request number (i.e. bug number) LPAD-17544Description: "Project Outline view requested for regular folders outside of project workspaces, with the ability to filter on folders only"One other way is to use the optional Livelink Explorer module and expand the branches in the Explorer view. Another possible option is to carry out an XML Export and apply a stylesheet transformation to the resulting XML output; however this would require some work to build a customized stylesheet.I also came across a LiveReport approach to this problem. Provided you are using an Oracle Database (because the LiveReport employs the "connect by prior" command unique to Oracle), the LiveReport provided at the link below may be very useful:https://knowledge.opentext.com/go/4466387

Another option is to install the free Livelink Atlas module, which provides a hierarchical folder view. A direct link to the module is provided below:

With regards to LPAD-17544, it is not a bug per se, but rather a feature request since the Project Outline functionality was designed for projects and not for content outside of a project workspace. The status of the request is still "open", i.e. not yet implemented in the product.- Bhupinder

There seem to be a few alternatives.....

As you originally asked, you could write a Livelink enabled Livereport.

That requires that you walk the hierarchy - the technique you would use would depend on the database system you have.

CONNECT BY PRIOR for Oracle

Recursive Common Table Expression (CTE) for SQL 2005

A stored procedure that builds a temporary table for SQL 2000

The downside is that this may be a large page if the hierarchy is very large/deep, as there is no paging capability.

Or you could use WebDAV and expand the hierarchy in that view.

Or you could write your own LAPI application.

The Livereport technique is fairly straightforward and there are many examples on this discussion.

Can a similar "dirtree" type report result be accomplished in a non-Project container?

We have customers whoul would like to eb able to report on this - prefereably with an export method to pipe to excel or CSV.

Any help appreciated,

Not exactly a report format however you can get a project like outline view of any workspace. Replace the X’s with the objectid of the workspace you wish to view.
