Hi,I am developing an agent and it needs to get the notification whenever a node is deleted. I have looked the script under LLAgent and It looks like all are reading the data from the database. My requirement is that my agent needs get the notification immediately when a node is deleted.I want to keep my agent module as much independant as possible.ThanksPrasad

Hi Prasad,May i ask why you have chosen to use a change agent for this task? If you need your script to be triggered immediately upon deletion of a node, why not consider a node callback object?If you could provide some more detail on your task, we might be able to give you some options.

Actually, I am not planning to change the existing Agent. I thought of creating a new agent/module which will get notification when a node is deleted. I do not want to modify any existing module. I would expect my module to be an add-on to the livelink modules. My Actual requirement is that My application is running in a separate server from Livelink. The new Livelink module needs to notify my application when a node is deleted. So, I fairly understood that I can register for the callbacks LLNode::NodeCallBacks and get the notification when a node is deleted which in turn notifies my application.I am very new to Livelink programming, any code snippet or explanation of steps is highly appreciated.ThanksPrasad

Yes, you are absolutely correct that you should not modify any existing (core) livelink modules - definitely create a custom module and take it from there.First, do you have Martin Scott's "Make a New Module" .lxe script? It is a great aide for creating a module very quickly and easily. If you do not, let me know what version of Livelink you are using and i will send you the appropriate script.What method were you planning to use for Livelink to "notify" your application?? Hi Donna,Thanks for your quick reply. I do not have Martin Scott's script. I was just following the Address Book Tutorial given in Builder documentation.I am running Livelink version "9.5.0.0.2151". If you could send me the script that will be great.Regarding the Notifications, I have the following options.1). Using a WebService 2). Direct update to a database.3). Use a socket applicationI prefer to go with "option 1" becuase my application already has the WebServices and it is just matter of Adding another Web Method. Also, It makes my Livelink script independant of the platform and database used by my application.

The make a new module script can be found in Hans stoop'smodule called customizationRT.What its does is add some utilities like all the basic elements that you need for your module building.It is a great help for beginners.https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/livelink.exe/fetch/2001/2411308/2045466/2216012/2454603/customview.html?func=ll&objId=2456823&objAction=browse&sort=nameOnce you have created a dummy module with this tool look at the inners .you will see that it follows the addressbook module's as well as any other standard module in LL.I am not sure whether you have looked at this but in standard livelink with the undelete module installed the node deletions(or I could be wrong only subtype 144 deletions) move into the undelete volume and it is a temporary holding area where the admin finally purges this.You might want to check this also because when a delete notifies your script it may very well be in the livelink system.

Just for clarification -- the "Make a New Module" .lxe was originally developed by MARTIN SCOTT (just after the release of LL v8). It can be added to your scripts directory (without the CustomizationRT Module) and used to create modules with a few clicks of a button. Hi All,Thanks for your valuable Info. Does anybody developed a script to call web services from the LiveLink?. First of all, I don't know if it is possible to call a webservice from the Livelink script. Any input on this is really helpful.I have followed the following steps to implment my notification requirements, but my module is not getting the notifications when I delete a node. What I am missing here?1). Create a new custom module say "AuditDelete"2). Enable the module(fEnabled = TRUE)3). Orphan LLIAPI:LLIApi Root:Node Callbacks to AuditDelete.4). Enable the module (fEnabled = TRUE)5).Override CBDelete, CBDeleteInfo and CBDeletePre methods.6). Compile and Export the OS Space.I have installed the module. But When I delete a node, I the CBDeleteXXX methods are not called. Any help is highly appreciated.Thanks

Did you run "BuildOSpace" in your Globals object?You may have to specify fSubtypes or fApplyTypes in the callback object...it has been quite awhile since i did one...

if you set fSubtypes = undefined, then it will get for all subtypes.....change the fSubtype feature's type to dynamic - it will default to undefined (?)

Yes, I did run the BuildOSpace() before exporting the OSpace. Also, I am wondering when __Init() will be called. Does the livelink creates an instance of my module when I set fEnabled = TRUE and export it??Thanks

__Init() is called when Livelink or the builder starts.

Exporting OSpaces is not required to make things work. It just creates a backup copy of your OSpace in ASCII format.

Hi All,Thanks for your valuable help. I am able to get the call backs now when a node is delete. As Donna indicated, we need to set the proper "fSubTypes" to UNDEFINED.Thanks.
