Automatic Category attribute update

Noura_Almazrouei_(nalmazrouei_-_(deleted))

I have 2 categories. Both have a same name attribute (Refno). I have applied these 2 categories on a document. Now i want when i update attribute (Refno) on one category it should automatically update that attribute (Refno) of 2nd category for that document.

I am using Livelink 9.1 Sp3.I have check "CBCategoriesUpdatePre" is not present in "LLIAPI.LLIApi Root.NodeCallbacks" should i need to create my own? I am very new to this Livelink. Please provide me some sample code for cross-attribute function. very much thanks.

Please solve my problem as soon as possible. I have to deliver task to my manager on urgent basis. I am using Livelink 9.1 Sp3.I have check "CBCategoriesUpdatePre" is not present in "LLIAPI.LLIApi Root.NodeCallbacks" should i need to create my own? I am very new to this Livelink. Please provide me some sample code for cross-attribute function. very much thanks.

If you cannot upgrade to 9.1 SP4then your task is more difficult. In your case, hooks that invoke thecallback methods must be inserted into the LLIAPI.LLIApiRoot.LLNode.NodeCategoriesUpdate method. These hooks must be insertedwithout changing the core code. If you are new to Livelink development youmay want to call for professional help. Open Text Global Services haveexcellent people. As for the cross-attribute function, you should understand thecategory-attribute data structure that is contained in the attrData frame ofthe NodeCategoriesUpdate method. This data structure contains values anddefinitions, including display names, of all category-attributes for thenode. Your task is to find attributes in different categories with displayname 'Refno'. Then you must make sure that their values are the same. Youmust also determine which attribute is the one changed by the user and whichone(s) must be altered automatically. I would suggest that you do some research. In Builder set a breakpoint onthe LLIAPI.LLIApi Root.LLNode.NodeCategoriesUpdate method and follow theexecution of a category update operation.
