Livelink NTLM sync failure causing group corruption
Benedict_Chiu
Hi,We regularly run NTLM sync's to bring users into Livelink from our AD system. Today the sync failed because the amount of users in the AD group was larger than our license limit. It seems a byproduct of the failed sync was one of our groups that is sync'ed in lost most of it's members, causing a flood of helpdesk calls for 'permission denied' errors, to folders that the group had permissions on. Can anyone explain if a sync fails is it expected behaviour to also corrupt group listings? The problem rectified itself when we removed enough users from Livelink and the AD group to allow the sync to complete successfully.Andrew OSouth East Water Admin.

Hi AndrewFancy meeting you here. When our Netware box stopped talking LDAP to Livelink once here at Melbourne Water, Livelink methodically disabled all user accounts at its next scheduled synch. That caused a bit of stress!I don't have an answer for your speceific question, just thought I'd share our (one only) nasty Livelink experience with you. That's the only time our system has gone down (unscheduled, of course) in three and a half years.Anthony HallMelbourne Water Livelink admin

Message from Chris Wagg via eLinkBoth situations that have been mentioned here are known bug with olderversions of Livelink. The bugs were fixed in monthly patches forLivelink 9.1sp4 and 9.2sp1. With the fix in place, a synch that fails will immediately abort, thus, not deleting any users.Chris-----Original Message-----From: eLink Discussion: Livelink Directory Services Discussion[mailto:directoryservices@elinkkc.opentext.com] Sent: Wednesday, October 05, 2005 3:43 AMTo: eLink RecipientSubject: Another trapAnother trapPosted by Hall, Anthony on 10/05/2005 03:40 AMHi AndrewFancy meeting you here.
