Blank input parameters

In livelink 9.5 SP1 I am trying to create report which will either filter data by input parameter(using wild card) or will bring all the values if the parameter is left blank. I am using - like '%%'+ %1 +'%%' . It works ok with one parameter but if I have 2 and more I need to type at least one character in each input field.The same SQL statesments work ok in my query tool. Is it a known issue for Livelink 9.5?Can somebody help?
