Extract Category or Info Via Javascript in CustomWeb

Does anyone know if it is possible, or how to, grab information like a Category Attribute Value from a Project folder while it is being rendered in HTML?I have a customview that houses a bunch of links and I want to shove the value of a certain Project Folders Category Attribute into the querystring of the links. Basically, the links lead the user to another system and I want to throw the Project Number into the query string so they don't have to browse to the project in the other system.
