Stored Procedure / Data table query

After much trouble getting stored procedures working in Livelink I have one remaining query that I can't find an answer for...How do you refer to datafields by column name rather than by column number?In other words use <!WEM datafield.last_name> rather than <!WEM datafield.2> for in the data table template or formatting code for example.When using raw SQL statements as the data code this works without problems.Thanks for any help you can provide.
