Personal Workspace Custom Tab Item accessible only to a Specific group

Is it possible that Personal Workspace Custom Tab Item accessible only to a Specific group? I added an Item as part of my new module and now I only want to give its access to users who are part of "Administrators" group.

Hello Ponpriya,

In the WEBLL module, take a look atthe LivelinkNavigationCallbackSubsystem object. There is a script called “items”that you should study in order to do this. It builds the navigation menuwhenever a page is loaded. You can make a custom module that replacesthis script when the custom module is loaded with a modified copy which cancheck if the user belongs to a certain group before adding the item to thelist. You should do this when the menu items are being assigned to thequickLinks variable. Make sure you don’t actually change the WebLLmodule itself however, and you also need to check the monthly patches to makesure they do not override this feature as well, otherwise any customizationsyou make will be overridden. When I got the course, if I remember well, I was thaught that these menus were static (that's the reason you get an intermediate page we calling log off) so how can it be filtered depending on the user?

Hi!I am working on a similar case... If a "special" user has logged on (with a special user login name) some menus and quicklinks shall be removed.I have patched the Items method on the LivelinkNavigationCallbackSubsystem object. But the problem is now to retrieve the current user information. The prgCtx is (what I can see) always empty and the request sometimes do not have the prgCtx. How shall I retrieve the current user information in the Items method?I use Livelink 9.5 SP1./Peter

consequently it is difficult to tailor them to individuals or groups. If you have a lot of spare horsepower on your server you can look at ForceSetup() in LivelinkNavigationCallbackSubsystem. While I have not tried this on a production system I suspect that throwing away the cache each time a user gets a page could be quite a performance hit.Here is a solution you may find useable, but let me begin by saying that customising the HTML pages is not a supported customisation - consider using the HTMLMap module as well with this solution. The problem this solves is that with the RM module there are 3 new menu items on the Enterprise menu that only select groups may access. Everyone else clicking these items gets a permission error message, so we wanted to suppress these items for those without the permission. To do this I modified the menucomponent.html file in the webnode module. (see attached). You may be able to modify this code to suit your purposes.The usual disclaimer here about how this attached HTML page is provided completely without support by Open Text. etc. etc. However, please let me know if you have any corrections or suggestions.Howard

Perhaps I should also say that hardcoding these items is clearly not what I would consider "best programming practice". This was meant as a proof of concept only and not as production code. But still, I think the basic methodology is sound.Howard

Thanks for the replies :)The Items method has the following argument list:function Assoc Items( \ Object prgCtx, \ Record request, \ Boolean applicationServerConfigured = TRUE )The problem is that the argument prgCtx is always empty and the argument request is not always properly filled, so the user can be retrieved (using request.prgCtx.fUSession). If I search for procedures that invoke the Items method the call is always send UNDEFINED for the prgCtx, why?Some examples of a "bad" request is when the Items method is invoked from the Atlas, the request just contains "request.Script_Name". When Items is invoked from the admin.index function or the search function the request does not contains a prgCtx entry.If I use the Workspace quicklink on the Enterprise page the prgCtx in the Items method contains a prgCtx./Peter
