Display Subtype Names in Live Report

Is there an attribute in the LL database that contains the name of the various subtypes contained in DTree (i.e. 144-Document, 0-Folder, etc.)?

I don't think we have Web Reports. I was hoping these subtype descriptions would be in one of the existing tables. Thanks for your help.

If you have access to the database you can create a small function in the Livelink schema that will decode the subtype integer to a description, then use the function in your live reports.

eg:

select name, subtype_desc(subtype) object_type from dtree

I've attached the function to do this, though depending on the modules in use you may want to add a decode statement for any subtypes not mapped on your site. The function will just return the integer if it doesn't have a mapping for it.

Hello Brian,You will need to run a Decode for Oracle or Case for MS SQL in order to convert the subtype into the subtype name. Thanks for the MS SQL example. It worked great. I may look at creating a function in the database, as this could be handy for future reports.

Thanks for the suggestion to create the function. Are there any naming standards I should use with the function? Or are there any future LL upgrade issues I need to be concerned with? Maybe our LL Administrator/DBA already knows this, but thought I would ask.
