Storing Image Files in Livelink
Terri_Collins_(terricollins_-_(deleted))
While doing the Livelink Administrators Training Course some months ago, the class was told not to store image files in Livelink. This wasn't expanded upon by the Trainer.I now have a large number of photos to put into Livelink and would like to understand the best way of doing this before I start.ThanksTerri

Message from Pike, Ric (EXP N-ARM) via eLinkWas the discussion about internal vs external storage, rather thenspecifically image files? -----Original Message-----From: eLink Discussion: Livelink LiveReports Discussion[mailto:livereportsdiscussion@elinkkc.opentext.com] Sent: 14 June 2007 03:33To: eLink RecipientSubject: Storing Image Files in LivelinkStoring Image Files in LivelinkPosted by Collins, Terri on 06/13/2007 10:29 PMWhile doing the Livelink Administrators Training Course some months ago,the class was told not to store image files in Livelink. Message from Hans Stoop via eLinkI assume this is related to using pictures in custom views. It is notadviced to store these pictures in Livelink, but to store them in theLivelink support directory.Pictures stored in Livelink are served by Livelink. Pictures stored inthe support directory are directly served by the webServer and thereforehave less overhead and better performance. I don't see any issue with storing photos in Livelink, unleas you makethem available in the custom view.Hans > -----Original Message-----> From: eLink Discussion: Livelink LiveReports Discussion > [mailto:livereportsdiscussion@elinkkc.opentext.com] > Sent: donderdag 14 juni 2007 4:33> To: eLink Recipient> Subject: Storing Image Files in Livelink> > Storing Image Files in Livelink> Posted by Collins, Terri on 06/13/2007 10:29 PM> > While doing the Livelink Administrators Training Course some > months ago, the class was told not to store image files in > Livelink. Message from Greg Kellogg via eLinkHans hit the nail on the head. If you are using the image for acustomview page, it should go in the support directory. If they arepart of your data, like a scanned invoice, then it should go intoLivelink so that searches can be performed on them.--Greg KelloggCertified Livelink Systems AdministratorLead Technical ConsultantOpenText Global Servicesgkellogg@opentext.com(361) 815-8950-----Original Message-----From: eLink Discussion: Livelink LiveReports Discussion[mailto:livereportsdiscussion@elinkkc.opentext.com] Sent: Thursday, June 14, 2007 3:01 AMTo: eLink RecipientSubject: RE Storing Image Files in Livelink 2RE Storing Image Files in Livelink 2Posted by Stoop, Hans on 06/14/2007 04:01 AMMessage from Hans Stoop via eLinkI assume this is related to using pictures in custom views.
