Duplicate DATAID in DTREE (MS SQL)
Kevin_Lin
Has anyone seen a duplicate dataid in dtree before? Can you think of any reason why a duplicate dataid can possiblely be created in DTREE (MS SQL)?We DO NOT do "INSERT INTO DTREE" for sure!

We thought it had been a glitch therefore ignored it. It's biting us again. The common things between two instances:The duplicates happened between a workflow attachment folder and a document created by a program that will create lots of documents in a short period of time.My hypothesis:1) LL workflow engine creates a temp map and attachment folder at the same time therefore the attachment folder id is always the temp map id+1 2) LL unique Id guarantee mechanism WILL ONLY check for one ID and use that as temp map id, and use ID+1 as its attachment folder Id, in other words, it assumes the following: If ID is not used in DTREE, ID+1 is not used either. 3) We are so lucky that the ID+1 happens to be an ID in use. Can anyone explain to me how LL assigns dataid to new objects?

Kevin, our customer has LL 9.5.1 on MS-SQL2000 SP4 (incl. memory hotfix). Architecture is loadbalanced with clustered database. We have around 50K active workflows. The customer is rolling out and therefore also uploading data via the Livelink Explorer (v 4.6.1), further scanned documents are uploaded via Kofax. As in your case we have usually implications between the workflow attachment folder and documents/folders. We suspect that LAPI is going wrong sometimes. We experienced a set of duplicate dataIDs earlier this year, around 10 pairs in January 2007. Once a sudden we now experience increasing frequence and number of ducplicates, around 50 pairs since November 2007.We have a ticket with OT CS and managed to capture such an event. We now can at least provide the connect logs.We asked CS for advice on setting a unique contraint on DTREE.DATAID. Did you eventually do that to prevent the duplicates in you case? Did you see any issues doing so? Which Livelink monthly patch-level do you have implemented?Kind regardsJan----jan.spengler@appliedECM.com0031-6-50425346
