Remove Text Document

Greetings All!I hope everyone is doing well. I'm supporting Lockheed Martin and the SSA these days out on the East Coast. :0)My Question: Is there a means to remove the ability for users to use the Add Item>Text Document feature?Why, you might ask? As we are not able to utilize Sun's JRE in the user's browser, we are stuck with MS VM. Due to this users get a (load: class com.opentext.texteditor.Texteditor not found) error when attempting to edit a Text document within Livelink. This also affects the creation of Headers in Appearances (though we have a work around for that).What we have so far:* It is the lack of JRE that causes the problem* We know that Text Doc is Subtype 145* In 9.5 sp1 Text Documents are not a restrictable item from the Admin pages* OT Support was not aware of a means to 'turn off' Text Docs. Thoughts:Rather then actually disallowing the creation of a 'Text Document' technically. Would it be possible to merely HIDE the option from the Add Item drop down?Any input is greatly appreciated.Regards,Ken Huie

Hi Ken,

You may look at the [Modules] section in opentext.ini.

All installed modules are referenced with a module_xx statement, where xx is a number, for example "module_27=textedit".

First look for the highest xx you can find (it should be near the top of the [Modules] section, for example on my instance this is module_52=xmlrpc)

Second replace the highest module_xx found with module_27 (in my example module_27=xmlrpc)

Third comment the module_27=textedit statement (put a diesis as first char : #module_27=textedit)

Fourth restart the Livelink service

Of course this should be done on a dev environment and tested.

I expect that for Text Documentsthe configuration for documents is taken.The other option I see is to deinstal the module 'Livelink TextEditing'.
