How can I make eLink work without configuring a pop3 server?
Bettina_Mastroianni
I'm thinking of a Livelink 9.7 version. My network team will prevent me from using a POP3 server for security reason. How can I overtake the obstacle? Many thanksBettina

Message from Mark Simm via eLinkHi Bettina,I'm not sure how you could configure eLink to work without a POP3Server, I believe other customers have tried in the past, but I've nevercome across a successful deployment. I've worked with customers in thepast regarding the security of the eLink POP3 Server and we recommendthat you only allow the Exchange Server (if that is your mail server) toconnect directly to the eLink Server. For example, limit access to port25 only to the IP address of the Exchange Server. Otherwise, any emailclient within your network that has access to the eLink Server would beable to send emails directly to it which is likely what your securityteam is concerned about.Unfortunately I don't have a way for you to use eLink without a POP3server but securing eLink by only allows port 25 (SMTP) from theExchange Server and only allowing port 110 (POP3) from the LivelinkServer is the most secure way to run eLink in your environment.Good luck...-Mark-----Original Message-----From: eLink Discussion: Development Discussion[mailto:development@elinkkc.opentext.com] Sent: Wednesday, August 22, 2007 11:21 AMTo: eLink RecipientSubject: How can I make eLink work without configuring a pop3 server? How can I make eLink work without configuring a pop3 server?Posted by Mastroianni, Bettina on 08/22/2007 11:15 AMI'm thinking of a Livelink 9.7 version.
