How to Edit a document?

I have the FetchDocument function working so I can extract a file to disk and then I open it in the appropriate pgm (Word for example). The problem is that Word doesn't automatically know that this is a Livelink document in Edit mode. I also have the Reserve function and the functions needed to Save a document working. What do I need to do to have Word know that it should be in Livelink Edit mode?
