Hi, I am trying to use the GetUserOrGroupByID(ID,attributes) method in a LAPI/Java program. However after passing the ID , the output variable 'attributes' which the LAPI document states to be of datatype Record returns nothing (no values).I have defined attributes as LLValue attributes = new LLValue().setRecord();Please help ....what am I missing....Thanks

The previous method I am using to get the ID of the user or group from a particular Livelink item is GetObjectRights(VolumeID, ObjectID, rights) method and the LAPI document states that parameter RightID of the output varaible rights is the ID of the User or Group.This RightID is what I am passing to the GetUserOrGroupByID() method. But when I matched RightID is different from ID in KUAF. Can anybody please advise what is the correct LAPI/Java method to retrieve the ID of the user or group from the ACL of the Livelink item and then pass it to another method.Please help .....

Where to begin?
1) Are you sure ID has some value? Is it an integer?
2) Are you sure that ID has the value of a valid user or group?

3) What is thevalue of the return status of the function call? If it isn’t OKAY thenwhat is the error message?

4) What is thevalue of attributes?

As Roger Dublin already stated in the outcome of the function GetObjectRights contains also data for the "system generated" principals:----8<--------8<--------8<--------8<----RightID integer the ID of the user or group for whom the permissions have been granted or one of the following system-generated user or group types: RIGHT_WORLD, RIGHT_SYSTEM, RIGHT_OWNER, or RIGHT_GROUP----8=--------8=--------8=--------8=----[Livelink API Developer's Reference Guide: Library API / GetObjectRights - Output Parameters]The "RightID" of these entries do NOT correspond to a user/group ID in KUAF.You have to crosscheck with the data available by GetObjectInfo to translate to the owner-user, -group etc.[Sorry for the delay, I had some trouble with posting to this discussion.]
