AttrSetValues() and metadata in a set

Hello, I'm using a java script (attachment) in order to change the value of a metadata.The script reads a csv file to get the node id and category id. Then it looks for the metadata with the specified name (attrName) and sets the specified value (attrNewValue) with the AttrSetValues() method.This script works fine with the metadata types i want (text field, multiline, popup, lookup) but it does not work when the metadata is in a set !Could you help me on this ?Thank you very much, Regards.

When you reference an attribute in a category using the AttrSetValues method, the name is usually sufficient. However if the attribute is in a set then LAPI needs more than its name. Afterall you could have several attributes with the same name, each in a different set. Furthermore any given set could have more than one "row", so that needs to be specified also.

Your code has:

attrs.AttrSetValues(catversion, mdName, LAPI_ATTRIBUTES.ATTR_DATAVALUES, data, valList)

You're passing an object data that is a simple LLValue. If the attribute named by the String mdname is in a set, then you need to additionally make data a List consisting of the name of the set in the category and the index of the entry in the set. For example:

LLValue data = (new LLValue()).setList();

data.add ("mySet");

data.add (0);

would identify the attribute as the first entry in the set named "mySet".

Never mind, I see that it's a field option in the drop down list of available field types.

Programmatically you can check the Type value of the attrInfo of theparent attribute (refer to the documentation of AttrGetInfo -> attrInfo-> Type for details). At the client side you will usually start with a CategoryVersion object,traverse its attribute definitions by means of AttrListNames andAttrGetInfo, possibly encounter an attribute of type Set and in turnthat one's children attributes -- so then you know already that theseare inside a Set.
