There was a bug I entered for the "LiveReport" format and filter permissions issue. Please see the bug details and the comments below:

Bug # LPAD-14557 - If "Filter Permissions" is _not_ used in a LiveReport, Livelink still filters on permissions anyways

Bug Comments:

The specification is that the permissions will be checked if the report format "LiveReport:" for security reason. Basically, one should always use the report format "LiveReport:" for secured node results.

To prevent permissions checking, you should use the report format "Auto LiveReport".

Also, we were told that the filter permissions parameter would only be valid if we were querying dtree. Is this true? Is there any documentation on this subject?

The "LiveReport" report format will only work for LiveReports that include DTREE in the SQL query, and any LiveReport that uses the "LiveReport" report format will automatically be filtered for permissions.

If you try writing a LiveReport that doesn't use DTREE in its SQL, you will get an error when you try to set the report format to "LiveReport" and run it.

I just tested a simple select * from Kuaf, and selected LiveReport as the report format, and did not get an error message.Is there any documentation on this subject?

You are correct -- it does work (although I do recall this failing in Livelink 9.2.x and earlier versions, which would give the "An unknown feature was specified" type of error).Documentation on creating LiveReports can be found via the link referenced below. As far as I know, it should still filter permissions when using an alias with DTree. If you are finding it doesn't, I would recommend opening a support ticket so that a product specialist can look into for you, and, if necessary, enter a bug in our bugs database.
