Good day,

I was hoping that someone might have some experience with writing a LiveReport that retrieves the data size of the metadata associated to its documents?

Is this possible as I don’t see a datasize attribute in the LLattrData table?

We’re using LL 9.7 with and Oracle db.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Can you clarify -- i.e. are you looking for the size of the document, as stored in the database, or the size of all the metadata associated with a document? The size of all metadata can vary based on whether or not additional metadata is assigned to the object, such as but not limited to:

1. Categories and attributes

2. Additional System Attributes defined for the Livelink instance, using the "Administer Additional Node Attributes" option on the Livelink Administrationg pages.

3. Classifications assigned to the document

4. Usage of detailed descriptions in the "Description" field on the general page of Livelink documents

5. Metadata added by third party modules.

I haven't come across a report that tabulates total metadata size per se, but the above information should help define the scope of the report as such.

Hey Bhupinder,

What the client is looking for is the sizeof all the metadata (cats and atts) associated with a document (not the documentsize).

Does that clarify it a bit?

I think a reasonable estimate could be obtained by calculating and then totalling the row sizes for all the rows occupied by the document in the LLAttrData table. The "ID" column in LLAttrData corresponds to the DTree.DataID of the document. Tips and examples of calculating row size (for Oracle databases) can be found here:
