Functionality Trouble
Joy_Ghosh_(jghosh_-_(deleted))
Hi,I was not quite sure where to put it so I am keeping it hereI am quite new to Livelink so please forgive me if my questions sound amateurish. Here is the trouble:If anyone has worked in documentum then there they have a concept of "Lifecycle" on a content, where a workflow can move it up and down the states and then when the content reaches a specific "state" the content can be "published" to a file system, or some other action taken upon it.Now I am unable to find any corresponding entities in Livelink, the closest I came was in the WCM server where you can put the content on the site.......but this is the WCM server site and the publishing that I am speaking of involves export of content to ANY file system from where a http server can pick it. So I guess even that is not the same thing. At the moment I am aimlessly roaming around the Knowledge Center for documentation but to no avail........ANY HELP APPRECIATED!

The functionality you describe is buildable with the workflow module, a core Livelink module.
For more intensive Records Management, there is the optional Records Managment module that uses the concept of lifecycle for records.
Apparently Documentum uses the concepts of states on a document whereas Livelink uses the concepts of steps in processes, the documents being the products of the processes and workflow being used to automate the processes.
There is a separate workflow discussion area in the KC which may be the best location for your thread.
