Dear all,Since LAPI and old style Oscript programming will soon be disregarded and fully superseded by Java, I was wondering where I can find detailed information on how to customize Livelink from 9.7 SP1 onwards. I've seen a few application notes on here but I'm still not clear how to actually develop any custom web service or any other Livelink bespoke application using Java. Do your Open Text sources have names? I would like to speak with them to find out why that gave you that information.

LAPI and Oscript are not going away. They will coexist with Java support in Livelink. The information you have is incorrect.

There is no Java specific Livelink developers guide. However, there are Java LAPI sample codes on the KC (https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll?func=Knowledge.Results&objId=3494545&SearchFor=*&ArticleType=Code+Sample&productID=Livelink+API).

if you wanted to write java code and "extend" livelink as as aoscript programmer would do with oscript this link https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/open/devzonewill help as well.The fist link allows you to run livelink under a servlet container.There is also javadocs as well.I really don't belive that oscript is going away it is a very well written and beautiful language.

Bettina,To clarify, a great deal of Livelink itself was, and continues to be, written in our proprietary language, OScript. There are no plans to deprecate OScript.With that said, beginning with Livelink 9.7.1, we have introduced a brand new Enterprise Web Services API. Though it isn't necessarily a replacement for LAPI, it has been said that a great deal more focus will be placed on Web Services development in future, rather than LAPI as we know it today.A previous incarnation of LiveServices, ended development with Livelink 9.6.0. Thank you very much for clarifying that. I'd been given the wrong impression that open source would have been the way to go from 9.7 SP1 onwards. I'm very pleased Livelink will continue to be written in Oscript as I've been an oscript developer for 8 years and get up to speed with Java will take a discrete while.RegardsBettina

Is it really helpful? I gave it a look some time ago but got really confused. That link gives info on Java modules and it's not really what I was looking for.I was actually looking for some documentation on how to extend Livelink with Java Web Services, using LWS API deployed with 9.7 SP1.Can you help? By the way,have you actually written any module using that tutorial? If yes, could you send me a sample or tell where I find sample code?Open Text has clarified they're not thinking to give in Oscript!RegardsBettina

I last looked at that java side of things in 2005 or 2006 and was quite releived that I could see the "My Home" page itself.The documentation had typos as such as the case sensiivity with Tomcat and some class loader errors were driving me nuts for a while.I cannot say I have actually written anything java with it other than a curious peek into that.I also have been an oscript programmer/lapi programmer all these about 9 years so my foray into that was also pretty much like yours.I thought they would kill oscript so I was trying to get prepared as well:).The rumours I too have heard.In fact is there any truth in the fact that builder would have perhaps syntac checkin etc like a modern ide.Isn't there something that OT'ers refer as Oclipse.
