Session timeout error
Inderpal_Singh
We have Livelink 9.7 in Cluster Environment with Directory services authentication. In test environment the session timeout for user is default which is 60 mins. So after session time out when user tries to access the LL it gets to login screen and ask for login credentials, which is perfect. But when user logs in, LL comes up with this strange error message “Check the attached screen shot” If you hit log-out on the screen it returns to LL workspace. Anyone else has this issue?

Click on the configure server parameters and click on help for this page.it goes on to explain what all those mean .The only thing as a sysadmin would do is probably the cgihosts line. but that may have changed over time.I am no longer strictly a sysadmin so don't know too much about those things

these settings relate to the gui settings under the 'configure security parameters' link on the admin pages. I would probably recommend that any of these items that you plan on changing, including the authentication method for that matter, be done through the gui, rather than editing the ini directly.

Just to let you know, the more I look at this, the less I think this has any chance of working. With NTLM authentication, you are looking to the Windows domain to do your authentication. Your Solaris server is not going to do that very easily. In fact, Livelink doesn't even give you any gui interface that will allow you to try.

Try adding to [security] section of your opentext.ini- validHttpReferers={'http'}the value in the 'validHttpReferers' attibute list should be - http or https - depening on which protocol you use to access LivelinkHope this fixes the error...Cheers,Pravin.

For more security, you can add domain of your environment as well. so the opentext.ini line will look like- [security]---------validHttpReferers={'
http://Livelink.MyCompany.com'}---------------------------------------------------------------------------EARLIER

It didn't work. i tried both options but still that strange error comes up. any other suggestions?

This error comes up because the page prior to Livelink is not listed in the HTTP Referrers section, do you have the URL for that page ? if so add it to the list on the ?func=admin.securityvars page and that should resolve the issue.
Inderpal_Singh
i guess you are refering to "Trusted Referring Websites" ..right? it's already listed in there.
Christian_Brandel
I had the same problem. I had to list the full URL to the host and not just the hostname, i.e.
https://my.site.com/instead
of just my.site.comCheers,Chris
Greg_Griffiths_(ggriffiths_-_(deleted))
I was refering to the ?func=admin.securityvars page in Livelink which in 971 has a new section of Trusted Referrers at the bottom, this is why you are seeing the error message as the referring site is not in the list.

Hi Inderpal,I am also seeing same error message that you had attached. We here use NTLM Authentication via directory services module (run IIs 6 with LL 9.7.1). My issue is i have not been able to set session timeout value correctly. I have set the session state value in IIS to 20 minutes but seems like it never kicks in to ask user for credentials again after 20 minutes of idle time and LL never times out. I am trying to set session timeout basically to 20 minutes wherein after 20 minutes a user has to reauthenticate to access LL contents. Any ideas on how best to achieve this? Are there any settings that I need to enable in LL 9.7.1?ThanksJitesh
