Installation procedure

Could someone please clarify a clear installation procedure for ELS.I have my own domian in a VM environment with also a Livelink 9.7.1 server and an Archive Server version 9.6I have a XP instance where i have installed the admin console, tomcat and the run time and core web services, supplied user id and password, yet i cannot connect to my archive server.I find that the installation documentation is very brief and not clear.Can someone please point me in the right direction
