Is it possible to locate objects in a specific folder that have a specific category assigned to it with specific value in an attribute?Essentially part of my sql stement is:select * from Dtree where parentID=2000 and (object has this catgory assigned to it with this value).The category has a single attribute in it.

Why not use Livelink search instead of a LiveReport, using the "From Here (Advanced)" option in the slice dropdown list on the search bar when you are in the folder? On the Advanced search page, the scope will then be set to "Within <folder name>" and you can pull up the categories option and select the category in question, and specify the attribute value(s).

Patrick,

If you want to use a LiveReport, you need to involve dtree, llattrdata and catregionmap tables. Also your requirement is not 100% clear. Do you want the objects having the category only in the parentid=2000 or all the objects through the hierarchy starting from parentid=2000?

Bhupinder’s suggestion has the addedvalue that the search, once perfected, can be saved as a template or can besaved to a particular location so it can be re-used by others who work in thatlocation but aren’t so facile with Search. This is especially good forsearched which must repeated periodically over a relatively limited portion ofthe structure.

I concur with Bhupinder because the whole point of metadata is to find it by livelink search.Howver since your category defid is a very small one you should be easily be able to find that from the database.However a database report will not honor permissions unless you put filter permissions as in a LR.The table relation ship is very strightforward.When you have category note its dataid either thru the GUI or subtype=131 query.For eg if your category is called "MyCategory" I could pretty much do thisselect * from dtree where subtype=131 and name like 'MyCategory'You can also do this with func=attributes.dump also.get the dataid of the category assume 1000This is the defid of another table.Now if you know that another object dataid say 1234 has this category(1000)assigned.select * from llattrdata where defid=1000 and id=1234This will spit out allrows of category info for that dataid.The columns will indicate whetherit is string ,integr long etc.If you want to further and further filter it get a livelink schema look at the atricle how to report on LL 9 cat/atts and you have what you want.Every category has a version and llattrdata puts it correctly with the version of the object in dtree as well.You could really get creative with this.Note llattrdata is a readonly table for reporting.LL uses the allattrblobdata table to do any updates et al.Try this on a test sytem .Llattrdata are huge in organizations.

Modify the following query to your needs:

SELECT d.*
FROM dtree d, llattrdata a
WHERE d.dataid = a.ID
AND d.versionnum = a.vernum
AND d.parentid = 2000
AND a.defid = 5000
AND a.attrid = 6000
AND a.valint = 0

Set 5000 to the DataID of the Category and 6000 to the AttributeID of the Attribute. Depending on your attribute type, you'll need to change valint to valstr, valdate, or vallong.
