Exporting LiveReports to Excel

We now have Livelink 9.7.1 and Vista including Excel 2007 and Internet Explorer 7. Prior to this, with Livelink 9.5, XP operating system, IE 6 and Excel 2003, if I ran a LiveReport, and right clicked on the results, one of the options was Export to Microsoft Excel (which the option is still there). It would then open Excel and attempt to get the data which I would have to go to Data, Refresh Data and then the LiveReport would populate in Excel as a spreadsheet which made it very handy to sort information. Expecially, in large tables that applied to a form based workflow. Now, when I attempt to do this, Excel opens and states that the Web Query returned no data and nothing seems to work to refresh it. Does anyone know how to resolve this? This feature will work in other Web based programs including our Intranet. Thank you.

Hi ! This is neat trick but how to you tell Excel to keep using the original query URL ?

Hi am able to import the data table one time using this kind of URL :

http://server/livelink/livelink.exe?func=ll.login&username=username&password=password&NextURL=livereportEscapedURL

but Excel store the redirected URL instead of the original one which logs automatically. The result is that I cannot refresh the data without recreating the web query. Is there a way to make Excel always use the original URL ?

Appu, thank you for responding (you are one of the ones that can always be counted on to try to help with problems or questions). After I posted this issue, I went to Tek-tips and found the one that you list here. It worked wonderfully but if any one can find a way to make the right click on the LiveReport work (Export to Excel), please let me know.Thank you.

alas I don't have these new windows systems that you have.Let's hope Scott is listening and may have an ace up his sleeve.I do have a suggestion rather than relying on excel to get all this out to you why wouldnot you try and then buy webreports.The csv export is out of the box.Excellent module and what you are paying for.

Appu - the issue there (buying WebReports) is money. I can't get it on the budget to purchase it. I wish I could--that package could resolve a lot of issues for me. Thank you.

Hello folksSorry I didn't see this earlier. Unfortunately I never did come up with a better alternative than what I discribed on Tek tips. In the end I started using webreports instead. I've just tried it on 9.7.1 and it's still the same situation.......Scott

Hello Mary,We went through a similar situation when we upgraded from 9.5.0.1 to 9.7.0. I found that if I created an Appearance in the folder where the LiveReport was located and turned off the 'Search Bar' in the Livelink Components section, all the previous Export Excel functions were restored. Natuarally, there would no longer be a search capability in that folder, so I've moved all my LiveReports to a separate folder and only enabled the Appearance to this folder and amy sub-folders.It's worth a try!Leon
