XMLExport Using EWS

I wrote java code for XML Export with the help of SDK Sample, but I get NullPointer Exception. Please help me whether my below code is proper or not.

Hi, Gowri.

Have you made a call to getXMLService(), assigning the endpoint to fXml? That, and the call to authentication have not been shown in your code sample.

Otherwise, do you have the stack trace for the exception? Do you know at which line the exception occurs?

It looks like the NullPointerException happens when it's trying to return a different exception:

The Content and VersionInfo properties of ExportOptions need to be set as well. Adding the following lines gets past the exception.

opt.setContent(ExportContent.BASE_64);
opt.setVersionInfo(ExportVersionInfo.CURRENT);

Yes, a value must be assigned to each of Content, Scope, and VersionInfo to avoid the NullPointerException.

Of course, the values can be any of the enum values, not necessarily those in the previous example.

There is currently no patch available. I'll create an issue in our tracking system so that we can consider ways to better handle unspecified input SDO enum parameters, either by providing a default value or a more meaningful exception.

Sorry for the delay in posting a response.

It appears that the FollowAliases option is missing from the ExportOptions SDO. I've created an issue LESAPI-166 to look at adding it.

For custom parameters there is the XMLAttributes property of the ExportOptions SDO. Can you provide some more information about what it is you're trying to do? Which custom parameters do you want to use?

We have a custom code written for our bussiness specific need, and if we pass a parameter say "ABC=TRUE" then we will trigger the custom code. So for this kind of requirements is there a way so set those parameters along with the default ones.

I think it depends on how you've implemented your custom code, but I think XmlAttributes is the only mechanism for passing in custom parameters.

I'm evaluating the .NET WS on LES 9.7.1. I have to set the ExportOptions (they must not be null) but I can leave all its members default (zero or null); I'm sending just new ExportOptions(). The server accepts it and works well. It looks like that the Java implementation is pickier, quite unfortunate.
