Using the SearchService

Hi,

I'm looking for away to retrieve a list of files (and later those files) off livelink to print. I've tried fiddling around with the SearchService, but i can't get it to work because I don't know what Query Language is supposed to mean.

doesn't go into enoguh detail to really make sense of how to properly set up a search. I jsut want to be able to have the user input a few key words, (file name, extension, etc.) and be able to retrieve the relevant files. An example or just general idea of how to set the Query Language and that would be greatly appreciate.

I have another question if someone could answer it. When i fetch back some of my results, some of them have identical category information. Originally I was discardign the duplicates and only paying attention to the first one I found. I realized that most of these duplicates are actually shortcuts, and while only paying attention to the first result generally worked, there are ttimes when the shortcutis actually higher in the list then the document it's a shortcut of.

  What I tried doing is limiting the file type s to return, but this wasn't a good approach as there are multiple returned file type. Instead what I want to do stop Shotcuts from comin gup all together. 

 I tried adding AND NOT OTMIMEType: Shortcut but it doesn't seem to be stopping the reapeated entries from happening, so I assume that's not the proper code for ignoring short cuts - what is the proper way to set the searc to not return shortcuts?
