EWS SearchService search on metadata

Hi all,

I'm looking for a way to search for documents and folders which have a specific metadata value set.
So for example search for all items where CaseId=1234. Where CaseId is an attribute of the Category Case.

I also read something about LQL on the forums, but am unable to find the documentation. Should I use LQL and maybe someone can point me in the right direction to find the documentation?

I have solved the first piece of the puzzle.

(Note: In the admin pages use '?func=attributes.dump' to get a full list of all available attributes)

Now my next question is, how do I process the results?
I'm getting a SingleSearchResponse which consists of a set of SNodes. The SNodes have a whole set of D, I, R, S fields which all have multiple indexes.

Another question, is there another search API available? I want to represent the search results in the following way:
[Icon] [Title] [Last modified date], where the title is a hyperlink to the file or folder.

With the SingleSearchResponse I can do neither of the above without some thorough processing of each search result. In my search results I cannot find the file extention or url to the file?

Also, using ResultTransformationSpec, you can specify what regions should be returned by the query. These regions must be marked as displayable in the Search Manager's region map.

I have altered the Regions and added the following to my query:new string[7] { "Title", "OTFileName", "OTMIMEType","OTModifyDate", "OTModifyTime", "OTLocation", "OTObjectSize" };

I still have some questions about the processing of the search results though:

The ResultAnalysis contains:
S:
  [0] "OTFileName" string
  [1] "Location" string
  [2] "MIMEType" string
  [3] "Modification Date" string
  [4] "OTModifyTime" string
  [5] "Size" string
  [6] "Title" string

The Results.Items[X] contain:

[0] {8/12/2009 12:00:00 AM}  System.DateTime

* How am I supposed to map the fields with result set?
* Is there a way to get the fully qualified URL to a file/folder or do I have to create that myself by some string manipulation? (splitting the location and adding it to a preset string?)
* And lastly, can Livelink provide a icon location with the search results or is the MIMEType the only hint on that?

Hi, Gjalt.

You can use Results.Type to map the results to region names. For example, Results.Type[0].Strings will be parallel to Results.Item[x].N[0].S.

I don't believe there's any way to get an URL for a given search result. The value of Results.Item[x].N[0].ID might be useful in determining an URL, though.

The icon cannot be included with the search results. Using the MIME type would likely be your best bet.
