Eliminating Concurrent Searches using Search API

We have a custom search form using the Search API. Single users are able to click "Search" multiple times, and those individual searches queue up one behind the other causing excessive strain on our servers.

 

Is there a way to alter the number on concurrent searches that a user is able to perform with the Search API?

Hi Chris,

 

I have had this problem on my current customer site and we endedup disabling the search button once it had been clicked once, this ensures thatonly one search at a time can be executed.

 

I should think a similar thing could be achieved via the API.
