Emails to projects
Bax_Ruud
L.s.At current we're using Livelink Explorer to drag&drop emails to project workspaces in Livelink. Since we're doing about 15.000 projects a year and some users have up to hundres of projects browsing my projects can take quite long.A user suggested to have a possibility in Outlook to select multiple emails and have a option to enter a project number and then let a job push those mails to a standard folder in that specific project in Livelink.Has anyone done something similar like this and/or can give me some pointers !?Kind regards,Ruud

I am not sure if I am following this correctly. If those multiple emails do contain something like a project number and if that metadata can be used to locate a folder in livelink i think you can do it.You might have to use MAPI in conjunction with LAPI/Webservices to do this.Secondly-If your livelink instance has elink then at the outlook client you can create a outlook rule saying if subject contains "projectnumber=1234" then move to a hardcoded livelink folder for that .I have used this method where some external companies mail reports and we filed them in the appropriate folder. If you do not want to re-invent the wheel look at what OT's email solutions give you. They use a outllook form to move things into livelink. There is a good deal of setup involved but it works as well.my guess is that MAPI,LAPI and IXOS API are involved in that.A little more clarity on the use case will get you more people answering as well.

Users want to archive their emails on Livelink but don't want to browse to their projects because with multiple projects it's quite time consuming. Every project within our company is generated from our financial system with a standard folder structure and starts with a unique project number. Users would like to select several emails in outlook and then simply enter a project number (e.g. in a form behind a button) and then push a publish button which then picks up the selected emails and places them in the project in a predefined folder Correspondence. This way they wouldn't have to browse to/through their projects.
