You need to frame separate table in the from clause, something as below:

Hi Adarsh,Thanks for the quick reply.But we use SQL Server 2005. And this gives errors "Incorrect syntax near 'start'" and "Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'with'".Do you have similar query for SQL?Many Thanks,Atiya.

The query which I provided was only an example. You need to tweak it as you require. start with ... connect by prior is not supported by SQL Server. My requirement was different where I had to traverse through a structure.

The think rest should work fine in SQL Server too. I don't have experience of querying Livelink tables on SQL Server
