Removing a category

Hi folks,

I'm having the opposite problem respect to others in this forum. Normally the exigence is adding a category to a node, instead I must to detach a category from a node (using oscript). Someone have some suggest about this issue? May be a solution is to drop the attrdata object, but .. how can I to perform this ?

I think I found this solution:

    catNode = DAPI.GetNodeByID( prgCtx.DSession().fSession, DAPI.BY_DATAID, 1357016 )
    retVal = llnode.NodeCategoriesGet(catNode)
    attrData = retVal.AttrData
    retVal = attrData.DBDelete()

Someone see some problem ?

Normally if you write Oscript code to add a object to a folder containing a category you have to write another set of code to make it inherit. the category from the folder.The livelink webgui code does this under the covers.I am unable to understand what you are trying to acheive here?

Do you want a user using the webgui (not your oscript code) add objects underneath a folder that has categories and your intention is to NOT have the new item have the category from the parent.Is that what you are trying to do ?

Without coding you can edit a setting on the folder where you say I do not want subitems to inherit this on the far right corner of the web gui.

If you want to do this programmatically you may have to intercept the opentext call and do it accordingly using the methods of how to override opentext code calls.Putting a break on builder for the livelink call will let you see how they are implementing that is how I have implemented tweaks to OT code bases.

BTW:I have code samples that allow a folder category to be inherited to its children.I am guessing you want the opposite but you want the users to use the standard livelink web gui correct.

Those original posts were from 2010. Now when you do the LLNode.NodeCreate I want to say attributes from the parent are automatically inherited. Are you finding different?

I am trying to create a sub folder with its own category. Along with this it should inherit the parent folder's category.

Through webservices I am able to achieve first part but the inheritance is not working.
