Installing ELS

I have run the MasterSetup installer to install Enterprise Library Server, but I have not had any success accessing any of the services. Running the ELS Java examples, I get authentication errors. SImarly I am unable to login to the Open Text Administration mmc console.

How do I validate the install is complete and what default username/password should work?

Areyou able to connect to Runtime and Core Services (RCS) via MMC-basedAdministration Client using the account you’ve created for RCS?

Hi Leslie,

did you follow the instructions of the Enterprise LibraryInstallation and Upgrade Guide (https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/Properties/15704385),especially the part of setting up the Authentication Driver (chapter 4.3)?

I have been sidetracked on other issues. My current status with this is :

1. I can access Runtime and Core Services MMC admin console.

2. Accessing Enterprise Library Services node gives me 'Entry for ? could not be found in the configuration file.' messages with Core.LoginFailed code.

3. Drilling down into this node sometimes works and sometimes give 'Authentication provider returned error!' messages with 'Unknown user.|' as the cause in the webservice response.

4. I created the LESDriver under authentication as described in ELS Install guide.

5. I can't access the LiveLink admin under Tomcat. I don't know what to do with the mappings.tbl. I created a conf\Catlina\localhost\Livelink.xml but accessing the admin URL gives me a 404 resource is not available error. I can access items out of the support directory with the img URL but I get an error from Tomcat admin when I try adding the cgi directory.

Hi Leslie,

attached an example Livelink.xml file that works on my installation.

Of course you have to adjust at least the "docbase" directory in this Livelink.xml example file.

Did you already customize your Livelink Enterprise Server?

Probably not, as you were not able to access it.

If LES is correctly customized you should be able to authenticate as the LES "Admin" user to the MMC Admin Client and access the Enterprise Library Services nodes.

If you added the user "Admin" to the CSAdmin role (Installation Guide page 56/57) you should also be able to access the Runtime & Core Services node in MMC with this account.

Your livelink.xml maps /Livelink to the /application directory. I did this and this got me to the desired Livelink admin page. What confused me was that the mappings.tbl produced by the install and the installation guide in section 6.6 states this should be mapped to the /cgi directory. Have I misunderstood the documentation or is the documentation in error or out of date?

Hi Leslie,

I would say that the documentation is not wrong, but it's not comprehensive. Mapping to /cgi directory is correct for pure Web Servers like IIS, but for application servers like Tomcat the "connection" between Tomcat and Enterprise Server is based on a "web application" (servlet / .war file) located in /application directory.

Hello Leslie,
you should follow the instructions in chap. "6.1.3 Apache Tomcat Deployment" in the same guide.
Unfortunately, the description for xml file has syntax errors (address this to Content Server documentation).
Beside the syntax errors there is no contradiction to what Xaver sent you.

Yes, once I had noticed the incorrect '/>' endings in the 6.1.3 Tomcat Deployment xmls, I was able to resolve the issue.
