Directory Services Stopped synchronising

The directory services on our test environment has stopped synchronising with Active Directory.The Admin password on the environment has expired, could you confirm if this is related?Also the issue is an attempt to chnage the admn password in the environment results in a 'Server did not respond' error.Does anyone have an idea what the issue might be?Thanks,Tanima
