I want to change the default quicklinks under Tools (e.g "Log-out" and "Setting") and place my own. I don't know what object to orphan.

I would just modify the QuickLinks section of opentext.ini as per https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll?func=ll&objId=14424390&objAction=ArticleView and https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/fetch/2001/3551166/2120999/2120118/8848105/13621345/14393372/Livelink_ECM_-_Enterprise_Server_9.7.1_Administrator_s_Online_Help.pdf?nodeid=14393373&vernum=-2 (page 139) so you don't need to do any coding for this change.
