Records Management & Physical Objects

Has anyone used the web services for the records management & physical objects module? If so, can anyone point me to some decent documentation on it as well as any sample code that is available? (Preferrably in C#.)

I am working on a project where I need to load the physical location information about a document from another system (the system scanning the document) and adding it to the document in Livelink. Our organization has a preference for the web services over the LAPI dll's.

Hi, Mike.

I'm afraid that I'm not aware of any samples for the RM/PO web services. Perhaps someone else in the forum has had experience using them.

It might be worth posting in the RM discussion to see if anyone there has experience using the web services.

In a nutshell here is what you have to do in order to use RecordsManagement via web services:

1. instal RM 4.2.X module in livelink

2. add the records management dll and svc files to the livelink webservice. this will make RM webservice available to use via a wsdl

3. run wsimport to create java classes from the RM svc wsdl file

4. the RM classes will then be available to use.

You should also be able to set up a separate application in IIS to access les-services-recordsmanagement, etc., rather than merging the .svc and .dll files with those under les-services.

That is true. But we wanted to use the same URL for the wsdl.
