Hello, I'm trying to modify some weblingo in the html pages so that I can have certain buttons loaded when a user is an Admin user but they would not load in the html if they are any other user.

Specifically on the workspace page I'm trying to prevent the users from having access to the copy, move, delete, zip & download, and print buttons.

The HTML file I'm editing the oscript weblingo in is: webnode/browseviewcore.html
Is there a specific function that this file should have access to call and determine if the user is an admin? I thought that I could use the checkAdminPwdCookie function however I seem to have a problem calling it.

I also can't seem to even call ;echo("text") from any file to get it to show up in the debugger console of the builder. Is there something I'm missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Anne,

You don’t saywhat version of Livelink you are using; however, this should work for most 9.xversions:
First:

To find out who thecurrent user is

;boolean canSeeMenu =false

;integer usr =this.fPrgCtx.fUSession.fUserId

;canSeeMenu= true // admin gets to seeeverything

You can also find outwhich groups the user belongs to if you want to base this privilege on groupmembership.

;recarray allGroups =UAPI.MembershipListByID(this.fPrgCtx.fUSession.fSession, usr, UAPI.GROUP)

Now step throughallGroups looking for the groups you want and set canSeeMenu appropriately.

Now you would wrap an ‘if’statement around the code that displays the buttons. This will leave the checkboxes (see below).

Second:

To remove the buttons when you have access tothe builder

For your own module, edit the_ExcludeMultiButtons script in your webnode(s) and insert any combination of {"CopyCmd", "MoveCmd", "DeleteCmd", "PrintCmd","ZipEmailCmd", "ZipDwnldCmd", "CollectCmd" } inthe return statement. A better arrangement would be to store the list ofexcluded buttons in the module's ini file and have _ExcludeMultiButtons() readthat file. Note that removing all the buttons does not remove the checkboxes.To remove the checkboxes you’d have to edit the livelink.css file and

This removes the checkboxes for all listeditems

.browseItemCheck { display: none; }

This removes the master check box at the top

.browseListHeaderCheck { display: none;}

For EXISTING modules you will have to unlocktheir OSpaces first (NOT recommended) or orphan their webnodes (recommended) todo the same as above.

It needs to be this.fPrgCtx.USession().fUserID, else you run the risk of stack crawls.

Here's a variation on Howard's that I used which allows users with SysAdmin privs(so more than user 1000) can see it.I used customizations_rt and mapped browseviewcore.html in recycle bin since it had taken over the original one.The boolean tells me if the session of the user has SA privs or not,but since kyle posted the correction I have to check if my call is correct as well(although I took this form core ot code)

Older code used to use prgCtx.fUSession (or fDSession or fWSession), but issues that arose in more recent years have shown the danger of doing so.

We always recommend using DSession(), USession() or WSession() to ensure that you don't run into any problems.

I attempted the suggested script and it doesn't appear to have done anything Here's the code:

The page still loads the same for all users, I find this very odd. I have cleared browser data and also stopped and started the livelink server. When I comment out this for loop the buttons do not load, could there be a problem with it parsing the oscript? Am I forgetting a step in loading the modified html file?

thru livelink builder put a break on the browseviewcore.html and run a page load,if it is not breaking there then you have more than one livelink server that serves the request or you have some other module taking over the browseviewcore.html.If you viewsource on the page many times you can see which weblingo is being processed.

Correction, just made an early morning mistake of copying the wrong file over (browseview.html instead of browseviewcore.html)
It still does not work and simply doesn't load the browseviewcore.html at all
I'll try the page break and get back to you shortly.

I'm receiving a Fatal Error in browseviewcore.html with the message: "Compilation terminated due to previous errors or premature end of input."

I commented out all the code added with the excpetion of ";boolean isUserAdmin = FALSE"

I changed the variable name from "noMultiSelectButtons" was utilized elsewhere in the file and was already defined.

This is an OScriptsyntax-checker error. You have probably commented out an ‘end’statement that isn’t yours, or something similar.

I restored the file to it's original so I could start over, and decided to add one line at a time.

It compiles and loads in the webpage fine after adding

When I add:

It no longer loads in my browser. Though it's no longer giving me any errors.

How are you adding break points to the html file in the builder? I can add breakpoints to oscripts when I open them in the debugger but I can't seem to open the html page in the debugger, and the text editor doesn't give me any options other than to toggle break on entry. and that feature doesn't seem to be triggering a break.

You have a typo: removethe second letter ‘f’. That is, it should read

;IntegerusrIdNum = this.fPrgCtx.USession().fUserId

A rule of thumb is thatmethods (in this case USession() ) do not begin with the lower-case letter ‘f’.It should be reserved for data features.

Thank you everyone! you've been very helpful. I do want to note that I appreciate the simplicity of this task for most IDEs, however When I use file->open in browser the text editor that I get for the html files gives me only one option (other than editing text) and it's the little green circle at the top right that "toggles break on entry"

There is no option to add a break point anywhere in the document.

I did however Finally get it to break on entry of the file. and I've navigated down to the line:

Setting a breakpointin OScript is accomplished by the line:

scheduler.debugbreak()

Setting a breakpointin a WebLingo file (HTML with embedded OScript) is similar, just add asemi-colon

As I mentioned, you WILL run into problems using fUSession.
The USession() wrapper ensures that you always get back a valid session.

If I wanted to do the same thing and only have admin users be able to view the drop down function menus next to just about everything (the little down arrows next to the folders and various other items)
What's the best place to change that? I found that the menu itself is under the OSpace Webnode.WebNodeAction.FunctionsMenu2

Disabling that doesn't remove the icon that goes with it though. Any thoughts?
