Access a Personal Workspace

This may be a silly question, but how do you get the Personal Workspace ID for a user using EWS? I can't find any function to do it in DocumentManagement or MemberService, and there doesn't seem to be a reference to it in a User object. Any quick tips would be appreciated.

Hi, Douglas.

Just pass the type "PersonalWS" to DocumentMangement's GetRootNode method. That will return a Node for the current user's personal workspace.

in lapi there was a function to impersonate user,which means using a SA priv account you create a session and then you impersonate the users.at this point accesspersonalworkpsace would be as that impersonated users.EWS is replacement of lapi so they must have a similar implementation.Recently I saw somebody posting a simple example shoing impersonation in EWS.Worth a try

Another quick related question. Is there a static list of these 'type' strings somewhere to reference? Either static variables, or in documentation?

I'm used to referencing subtype. Does the 'type' string match the name of the object type in builder? So would it match whatever displays in the "Add Item" menu?

The JavaDoc for the getRootNode method lists the options: 'EnterpriseWS', 'PersonalWS', 'CategoriesWS', 'ReportsWS', 'UndeleteWS', 'System'

Just to elaborate, for other methods (e.g. CreateNode, GetNodeTemplate), the Type parameter corresponds to the name of the children of ServiceNode, which you can view in Builder, starting in the docmanservice OSpace. For CWS 10.0.0 there's a method called GetNodeTypes that will return the list.
