LiveLink -> EWS authentication

I need a way to retrieve either a token or a password through the LiveLink GUI (webapplication) to use with the authenticationservice. Basically, i need a way to call and use the webservice through the LiveLink GUI. Is this possible and how?

Do you have the ability to create your own Content Server module?

If so, you could always create a module that provides a custom request handler to service these types of requests and marshalls them through web service handlers on the server side.

If not, I would recommend experimenting with AJAX calls.
This would allow you to package a SOAP message and parse the response using Javascript.

I think i should have mentioned that the calls will be done through a webreport and we were hoping to continue using the session that the user had already initiated in LiveLink. But the password is encrypted in the database and we want to avvoid having to use Impersonate together with an admin-user.

I think something along the lines of Kyle's suggestion is the way to go. Maybe a new request handler that calls the specific service method you're interested in so as not to open up all service methods to execution (perhaps inadvertently or maliciously) through the UI.

I'm glad I found this. It answers my question about whether one could call EWS from a web report. It sounds like this cannot be done without customization (i.e. adding an AJAX request handler). Frankly, if you needed to add your own request handler to call EWS from web services, you might as well do what you need in the request handler and bypass web services altogether.

It would be a nice feature to be able to somehow take your authetication cookie and pass that into an EWS call, but I can see that this would be opening up Livelink to all sorts of malicious attacks.
