Custom Web Service using the Archive Storage services

Hello Experts,

I am trying to figure out whether or not its possible to build and host a custom web service on the ELS layer. The use case is for a 3rd party middle-ware software which would need to archive a document in the archive server and return the document id for further processing back to the middle-ware software.

My initial thought is, that should be possible, however I did not find any indicator this has been done before nor a API documentation for using the Archive Storage services

Any help or suggestions is highly appreciated.

technically it should be possible, though this is not a normal usecase.
There is an ArchiveLink client API which the middleware could use to archive documents. The middleware could also use the Enterprise Library Web Services to archive documents into Archive Server and their metadata into Content Server.
Would one of the two be sufficient for your usecase?
