How to list out the general properties of a document in CS9.7.1

Hi,

I want to list out all the general properties (properties that appear in Properties->General) of a document using web service. Is there a way to retrieve?

If not, is there a way to get the attribute "Display" of a document?

We have a method "node.getDisplayType()" which always gives the same value "Document" even though the display for the same document set to "List/Featured/Hidden".

Please let me know the answer.

Hi,

I think what you're looking for is getCatalog() returns an integer indicating whether a Node is hidden, listed or featured.

Most of the other pieces of information on the Properties --> General menu are available as properties on the Node object, but you cannot get all of it by calling one method.

The Catalog property of the Node object is the property that you are looking for, as Ed mentioned. This will have one of the following integer values:

0 = List

1 = Featured

2 = Hidden

Thanks for your replies. I have few more doubts to be clarified.

1) Can a user define some custom properties to be displayed in "General" or "Specific" tab? If yes, is there any method to know such properties set at a glance?

2) Can a user customize the number of properties to be shown in "General" tab?

3) I have seen two properties in "General" Tab.

i) Best Bets Value

ii) Best Bets Expiry

What could be these properties represent and how do we get these properties using web service?

Pleaes let me know the solutions.

1) You would probably be looking at some oscript to modify those pages. You could just define some cats and atts to store custom metadata for a node and that would be viewable through Properties --> Categories. You definately can't do it through web services.

2) Not in web services, but you could in oscript. What other properties are you looking to store?

3) I dont know much about the best bets module. It's something to do with search results, I believe. I couldn't tell you what they represent but they aren't available via web services.

If you have some data that you want to store against nodes, then you would be best to look at categories and attributes as they are easily accessible via web services.

Best Bets are fields that store keywords that would trigger an immediate appearance on the first page of search results if somebody searched for one of those words.

These are not accessible through web services.
