Unable to use custom action in Livelink Navigation Tree

Hi ,

I am trying to use the livelinkPDK ( Portal development kit ) to to make a small customization to the LivelinkNavigation Portlet . My aim is to modify the current closeFolder action so that it updates the selected NodeId to the node which is closed . I have created a custom action for the same and passed the name of the custom action to the LivelinkTreeTag.

However I get a null pointer exception (Java.Lang.Null ) when I try to close a folder tree in the portlet . I have updated the customActions.xml file with my custom close action .

Does anyone know what the issue can be ?

Do you mean the PDK of the "Livelink Portal Integration Kit"?Unfortunately there is no dedicated forum for this product. Afaik the closeFolder action should already behave in the way youdescribe. However, I recommend to open a ticket with OpenText Customer Support.Please provide some more details (like the exception's full stacktrace)in your request.

Yes your are correct that this is also a default behavior , however there is a case in which this does not happen . Suppose you open two folder trees and then select a document in one of them . In such a case if you close the other folder tree , the document selected is still the one which was previously selected and resides in the other folder tree . I want to change this to reflect the name of the folder which was closed .

I was able to find and modify the code for the closeFolder action from custom_action_src.zip file , however the navigation tree gives an error when I provide it the name of my custom action to close the folder and try to close a folder. To check if this was a problem/error in my code , I tried using the original code given in the src file , however I got the same error .

I will attach a detailed log in my next post .
