Hi to everyone,

We´re having a problem using a JavaObject from oscript. We´re trying to connect using a java class to an external dataBase of Oracle.

In our local enviroment we have no problems to connect and it works fine. We have Livelink installed in Windows.

The problem is when we run the script from another enviroment that it´s installed on UNIX.

In both enviroments we have the necessary inside the folder of our module.

The reported error is: " no ocijdbc9 in java.library.path"

Could any of you help us?

Hallo Pilar,

You don’t need to use a JavaObject to connect to an external Oracle Database.

With the webForms module you can define an external database and then you can reuse that definition to create a DBConnection in OScript.

If you just Google for ocijdbc9 you will already find some helpful tips.

Hi,

The java stuff in CS is complicated (depends on op.sys). OT uses custom classloader in CS.

Where do store your custom java classes_

Try to put your calsses into [CS install]/jre/lib/ext if it's not working put these classes into [CS install]/jre/lib/endorsed

This configuration works for me. OJLIB never worked

thanks for your answers!

Hans, you´re right: with the webforms we can configurate an external data base, but we need to connect through java, because we´re doing other operations with java classes and one of them needs to connect with this external data base using java. That´s why we´re no using oscript to connect.

On the other hand, Keit, we´re going to test putting the jar files in the two paths that you have suggested us. But we have a question: in our standard configuration we don´t have the root [CS install]/jre/lib/endorsed, should us create a new folder called "endorsed"?

The error "no ocijdbc9 in java.library.path" is that the JVM cannotfind a _native_ library (DLL/shared object) named "ocijdbc9" used by theJDBC driver.This is not related to any JAR files and is _not_ a classpath issue.I think you can ensure that the library is found (usually it shouldexists somewhere in your Oracle client installation) be modifying theJavaVMLibraryPath setting the [javaserver] section of the opentext.ini

To make oracle calls i have used oracle thin driver.

DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());

String connectionString = "jdbc:oracle:thin:@+ serverName +:" + port + ":" + databaseName;

conn = DriverManager.getConnection( connectionString, userName, passwd );

In thins case the jar location is important. The classpath suff is mystrious - log4j never works from javaobject

first of all thanks to all of you for your interest .

We have solved the problem with the oracle´s conection (we don´t know exactly what the problem was, but after a lot of trials now it works; perhaps something to do with the paths).

But he have now another problem: we want to change default java virtual machine that Enterprise Content Servers use and change it for another java virtual machine that is installed on the server.

Is this possible? Can we use the java virtual machine installed on the server?

Hello again,

we want to change the jvm because we have the suspect that an error we have with the xml2.2.jar library perhaps has something to do with the jvm version.

The xml2.2.jar is found because is been used in other parts of the code without problem. But when we reach this point:

DocumentBuilderFactory factory = DocumentBuilderFactory.newInstance();

Thorws this exception:

This Provider org.apache.xerces.jaxp.DocumentBuilderFactoryImpl not found

Could this exception something to do with the jvm version?

Changing the JVM would also mean that you're changing the JVM for all other core components of Content Server that also use Java.

In changing the JVM, you could enable your components but break others.

He have already made a test with the same version of jvm of Livelink in our local enviroment and it works good, so the problem is not the version of the jvm.

We are very lost about this new problem. It´s a mistery for us that in our local enviroment all works good and when we install in the other enviroments it stops working.

When Enterprise Content Server is installed on Unix, are there other places to configure the path of the jars different than in Windows?
