How to Add a comment to a workflow?

Hello,

I am new LAPI programmer here.

I have LAPI code to initiate workflow, now I need to set a comment to it afterwards. How can I do this?

I use .NET and I looked into the LAPI section of the Livelink Builder Help for 9.7.1, but there isn't seem to be anything relevant under Workflow API. Can someone give me some tips or general direction as for where to look please?

Please refer to the installed LAPIdocumentation. The LAPI documentation is also available on the Knowledge Center here:

In the Workflow API section, there is anoverview of the UpdateWorkPackage function. This function is called in order toupdate the workflow package. This includes:

- Comments

- Attachments

- Attributes

- Forms

The input parameters include:

<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>WorkID

<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>SubWorkID

<![if !supportLists]>- <![endif]>WorkPackage

The WorkPackage is a RecArray type andthis is what holds the value(s) of the comments, attributes, attachments, etc.

The guide is tremendously helpful. But because I am a newbie in LAPI, do you think it's too greedy of me to ask for a few line of sample code? I am not sure how to construct the workPackage variable to send in.

I do not have a sample for comments but here is an example in java that can parse the work_package.In that code I am setting workflow attributes.

Unfortunately, I do not have an example for comments. However, you can check the two Knowledge Base Articles I have provided below:

From these examples, you should be able to modify the code in order to add comments.

the LAPI online documentation > WorkPackage RecArray Description > gives the Work Package RecArray description.

where subType 2= comments.

In the code provided by either Andre or Appu we can achieve the desired commets either a new comment or existing one if the WF is already initiated.

Even i will give a try using C# and posst if get a working example soon

In the InitiateWorkflowWithAttributes example on https://knowledge.opentext.com/knowledge/llisapi.dll/InitiateWorkflowWithAttributes.java.txt?func=doc.Fetch&nodeid=3742549&docTitle=InitiateWorkflowWithAttributes%2Ejava , there is a LAPI_Attributes object, which has a AttrSetValues() method to manipulate attributes. However I cannot find a LAPI_Comment object to manipulate comments.

Any ideas?

I've also seem to face the same problem with adding comment in the workflow. I did a System.out.println for the workpackage and notice that the comment is keyed inside (Comment was : Common **** please make this work) but it does not reflect on the comment textarea or listed in the comments below.

appsup, the reason maybe that you had to be more specific in your println about which **** you were praying to.
