Illegal act performed is the message wegive when a synchronized user tries to access Livelink though a non DSauthenticated web site. It is a bit odd that you are getting this only at thisparticular point, I would think that he should have gotten it earlier. Butcheck to see if this is the case, that he is synch’d but not using theauthenticated web site.

Error, Illegal Act performed

We have a customer with a CS 9.7.1 system running Directory Services 3.1.0 and Explorer 4.8.5, and the November 2010 patch. A small number of users have a non DS authenticated account, as well as their regular DS one. The second account has all the privileges boxes ticked, including System Administration. They access this second account from a second virtual directory, configured with Anonymous access enabled, and Windows authentication disabled. All standard stuff. One user has a Livelink Explorer connection set up for his privileged account. He doesn't seem to be able to use this account / connection to use the "Make shortcut" right click action on Livelink items, it gives an "Error, Illegal Act performed" message (see screenshot). He can create shortcuts in this way from his regular DS authenticated account. He can also Make Shortcut from the web view using his privileged account. I have set up a connection on my PC using Livelink authentication and the "admin" user (1000) account, and can use Make Shortcut. I have also set up a connection using his credentials on my PC - and then get the Error, Illegal Act performed message. So it must be something about his account and Explorer. We have a single front end instance, no load balancers. Any ideas? Anthony Hall Fastman Consulting & Solutions
