Running a LiveReport from an HTTP Step

I've written a LiveReport which updates the database which I hope to run from a HTTP Step (provided within XML Workflow extensions). When run in Livelink the report does exactly as expected but when run from the HTTP step it doesn't do anything although I'm not seeing any error in the logs, can anyone help?
